Steeped in horseracing and Thoroughbred breeding history, dating back to the 17^th Century, Newmarket is home to the oldest horseracing institution in the world, The Jockey Club, and to two world-class racecourses. It has the largest cultivated heathland anywhere in the world and has more than 50 individual stud farms in and around the area. It also boasts two world-leading equine hospitals, both at the forefront of equine veterinary advances.
