Over 700 individuals from 42 countries on 6 continents registered to attend ITBF’s third annual webinar.  A wonderful verification of ITBF’s success in uniting so many nations across the globe within the Thoroughbred industry and the inextricable relationship between breeding and racing.

The webinar featured ‘Aga Khan Studs – A Centenary of Success’ presented by legendary journalist, author and television racing presenter, Brough Scott MBE. A marvellously insightful, 17-minute film scripted, narrated and produced by Brough for ITBF was shown, using excerpts from the full-length film “A Game of Chess with Nature – Celebrating 100 years of the Aga Khan Studs”. Brough was joined by Georges Rimaud, Manager of the French Studs for a Q&A session. Monsieur Rimaud answered a variety of questions submitted by attendees from all over the world and will provided answers to the further questions that time did not allow for in the live event.

ITBF’s Vice Chairman, Dr Des Leadon, then opened the Veterinary Section of the webinar introducing Professor Anne Couroucé of Nantes University, presenting on the highly concerning EHV Neurological form.  Prof Couroucé gave her first-hand experience and subsequent research findings, from the disastrous outbreak in Valencia in 2021, at an international show jumping venue.  Prof Couroucé’s presentation identified the nature of the specific symptoms manifested, in relation to the differing environments, and consequent disease spread. She provided answers in dealing with a potential future outbreak and its containment. Essential measures such as mandatory vaccinating was covered in the Q&A’s and discussion put to Prof Cououcé by Dr Leadon. This was regarded as vital in protecting the thoroughbred world against the devastating consequence of an outbreak.
